The Pioneering and Birth of Agrima
Agrima’s history and company shape has an interesting story. The South African team members of Agrima has always had a similar dream to fulfil in Madagascar, and that has always been farming and to produce. The question about how to, and what to farm or produce in Madagascar started 28 years ago in 1994.
Piet Grobler (Father and Stepfather of Schalk, Francois and Dewald) and his brother in law (P.J. van der Walt, uncle of Schalk and Francois) scouted Madagascar and its opportunities. They were both very excited about the potential but realised that due to the language barrier as well as the logistics and technology available at the time that more research needs to be done to make a success of the dream.
In 2016 Schalk Grobler and his uncle P.J. van der Waldt decided that the time was right to revisit Madagascar due to the possibilities to translate, communicate, and invest in Madagascar with enough international connection to succeed.
